Ronnie Souders, Jr. Excited To Return To SoBo
Salem, OH
- June 4, 2011 - Team Release - Ronnie Souders, Jr. will be returning
to South Boston Speedway on Saturday, June 11 for the Strutmasters 250.
Ronnie will be piloting the E-Z Slider Cylinder Liners Impala for the
250 lap event. The Williams Motorsports (WMS) team looks to improve on
their run from Langley, in which they had a good car, but not the finish
they were looking for. After serving a stop and go penalty, the car
stalled and wouldn't refire due to a starter issue. The unfortunate
mishap proved costly and the team couldn't rebound. "That's just
racing," said Ronnie after the Visit Hampton, Va 250. "My team had a
good day, we had the car setup to compete, and the crew gave me good
stops. We will get the car ready and head to South Boston. I love to
race there, and I have had some good runs at SoBo," added Souders, Jr.
Ronnie
will be making his sixth career start at the famed South Boston
Speedway. He has an average start of 23rd, and an average finish of
17th, stats that continue to improve with every start. This season has
seen WMS improve in every aspect at the track. Crew chief Tim Silva has
been making great calls in practice, and really improving on overall
performance every week. The crew is meshing together and performing very
well on pit road during the race. "I really feel like we will break
through this season with some consistent top 5's," said Ronnie. "My guys
work hard every week, and I appreciate everything they do. We are
working very well together, and that makes for a great day at the
track."
First Top Ten of 2011 Season has Ronnie Souders, Jr. Excited
April 3rd, 2011 - Salem, Oh - Team Release – Ronnie
Souders, Jr. raced at Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, NC on Friday night for
the first time in his career. As always, there is a lot that goes into
preparing for a track for the first time; and Friday was no exception.
There were some improvements made to the EZ-Slider Cylinder Liners
Chevrolet after the race at New Smyrna. After practice, Ronnie said
that the car felt much better than it did at NSS. “My dad worked really
hard on the car getting it ready for today; and we continued working on
it to until the race,” said Souders after practice.
Ronnie qualified 13th
for the White’s International Trucks 250, and started on the inside of
row seven. The race was filled with action, excitement, and a few big
wrecks. Ronnie managed to stay out of those wrecks with excellent
driving and great teamwork. He worked his way into the top ten; where he
ran for most of the night. When the checkered flag dropped, it would
see the number 5 Impala in the 8th position.
“I
really like racing here at Ace; I had a lot of fun out there tonight,”
said Souders. We still have a few things to work on, but we are getting
better each week. If our momentum keeps up, hopefully we will be winning
a few of these races by the end of the season,” Souders said after the
race. “I really feel that we are headed in the right direction, and I am
excited to go to Dillon Speedway in a couple of weeks,” he added. The
Williams Motorsports team will get the EZ-Slider Chevy ready, and make
the trip to Dillon, SC for the next stop on the schedule.
Williams Motorsports Gets Top 15 In Season Opener
March 20, 2011-Team Release
- Salem, Oh. - Ronnie Souders, Jr. opened the 2011 season at New Smyrna
Speedway on Saturday night. The day started off with the team making
final tech adjustments, and practicing with the adjustments that had
been made. Ronnie took the EZ-Slider Cylinder Liners Chevy out for
qualifying, and qualified 20th for the 250 lap event.
The Maudlin
International 250 Presented by Kangaroo Express got underway and the
EZ-Slider Chevy was rolling. The event was not kind to many cars, and
the race was plagued by many cautions. Keeping his car out of trouble
all night, Ronnie was in line for a great finish to start the year.
Around lap 160, the car was lacking in horsepower, and would not do what
Ronnie wanted it to do. After spending a few laps behind the wall, the
team was able to get the car back on track, however, due to mechanical
failure, it was decided to park the car.
After an
unfortunate night, there proved to be a little luck left for the
Williams Motorsports team. With the race being as hard as it was on the
whole field, the EZ-Slider Cylinder Liners number 5 car unofficially
ended the night with a 13th place finish. "We had a good car tonight,
and I was really finding a rhythm out there, I just wish I could have
made the whole race. It was a lot of fun, and I really enjoy racing at
this track." said Ronnie after the race. "We learned a lot today, and we
will be back, and fast at Ace Speedway," Crew Chief Tim Silva added.
The team will get the car ready and make the trip to Ace Speedway where
they look to improve on their finish in the season opener.
